College Application Event

BHS College Application Events

Early Action Event- Tuesday, September 26th 7:20 am-2:50 pm 
Students should sign up HERE for a time they would like to attend. 

STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DAY OF THE EVENT

1. CREATE AND MATCH COMMON APP WITH NAVIANCE

If you are using the Common App to apply for colleges, this is a very important piece of the application process.  Please follow the Quick Reference Guide to complete this step.

   2. APPLY TO COLLEGES

Search colleges you plan to apply to and begin the application process.  If you are unsure where you want to apply, skip to number 5.

APPLICATION FEE WAIVERS:
Students who qualify for Free or Reduced lunch ask your counselor for an Application Fee Waiver.   

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Make a list of additional items you need to submit with your application (ex. essay, transcript, SAT or ACT scores, recommendation letters)
 

**Print out a copy (or take a picture) of your confirmation page after submitting your application. Keep any confirmation emails you receive. 

**Keep a record of all usernames and passwords. 


2.REQUEST YOUR TRANSCRIPT
Transcripts must be sent from your counselor to the schools you are applying to.  Request transcripts through Naviance by following the reference guide instructions.

3. Complete the FAFSA - you will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which is available starting October 1.  To sign your electronic FAFSA you have to create a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID)

4. Apply for Scholarships

BHS Scholarship Page -Local scholarship page will be active beginning January 19th.  Plan to attend our Launch Meeting that evening at 6:00 pm in the DLC!
